11 x 15 inch watercolor after Ralph Albert Blakelock, (1847 - 1919), New York artist of the Hudson River School, Luminist & Colorist, who was famous for his Moonlight series. He was the greatest selling artist in America at one point and Franz Kline collected his works as did Andy Warhol. He was institutionalized for the last 18 years of his life and suffered great poverty in the years before trying to make a living for his 9 children. A Modernist as well, he still sells for big numbers at auction today.
